Wow what an awesome first week we have had in 6th grade!!  We spents lots of time talking about norms and expectations, but also got right to work on some great topics!  In science and social studies we learned about a group strategy called a chalk-talk that allows us to brainstorm together without actually talking to each other!  We let our ‘chalk’ or in our case, our markers, talk for us!

There are 3 steps to a chalk-talk:

1. List anything you can think of about the topic.

2. Circle the things that are most important about the topic.

3. Connect words and phrases together

We used FPES as our topic and made some amazing connections!  Take a look at what we came up with!
