First week of school!
The 2014-2015 school year is upon us! We came back to school on Tuesday, August 5th and got right into it! Take a look at some of the awesome things we did during our first week of school!
School/class poster: I got this idea from a Pinterest post! Check it out HERE!
We also took some time to complete ‘The Marshmallow Challenge’! If you don’t know what this is or how to works, check out this LINK. We had a great time, and I loved watching my new students really work together to complete this challenge on the SECOND DAY OF SCHOOL! My 6th graders rock!
We also began learning about a new way of learning this week: Flipped Learning! We used a You Tube video on how to make origami jumping frogs to help us understand the importance of being able to pause and rewind videos to help us learn what we need to learn! It was a great experience that really helped show my students what they will be able to do once our flipped classroom begins! I can’t wait to get it started!
What was your favorite part of your first week of school?
For the first week of school it was fun. I thought it was cool to be in 6th grade!!
For the first week of school it was fun! I like all of the fun things with all of the challenges! Science is fun some people think that it is all boring and lame BUT… it is not really boring if you think about it!!
Our group that we have done was the Water Challenge. So Tristen, Hailey, Alize, and me we were making a mess and the only thing that we have gotten out of our dirty water is the mustard seeds. It was fun and funny! 🙂
The marshmallow challenge was hard, but in the end it worked.
Hahaha. Me, Hailey, Braydon, and Kylea didn’t do very good.
Dear Miss Holmquist’s 6th graders,
What a fun first week of school! I love the marshmellow challenge, my favorite part of that is seeing all the creative ways to build!
Flipped learning sounds like a great way to learn! I can’t wait to see more posts about it.
What are you most excited for this school year?
From,
Mrs. Avery
